A shooting at a convenience store in Walpole prompted a large law enforcement and emergency response late Wednesday morning, leaving one person seriously injured and another taken into custody. The incident unfolded shortly before 11 a.m. at the Jiffy Mart gas station and convenience store on Main Street, near Route 12. Police were alerted after reports came in of a gunshot victim at the location.

Officers from Walpole Police were joined by New Hampshire State Police, along with law enforcement assistance from Bellows Falls, Vermont, as they secured the area and began their investigation. Emergency medical crews treated the injured individual at the scene before transporting him to Cheshire Medical Center in Keene. Due to the severity of his injuries, a DHART medical helicopter was requested, and the victim was later flown to Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon for further care.

Authorities confirmed the injury involved a gunshot wound to the torso. The victim was identified as an adult man and a Walpole resident. Police detained another adult man in connection with the shooting. Officials said the arrest was made without incident, and investigators believe the shooting was an isolated event rather than a random act. Law enforcement emphasized that all individuals involved had been accounted for and that there was no ongoing danger to the public.

During the response, investigators documented the scene, including two pickup trucks parked at the gas pumps. One of the vehicles was observed with the fuel nozzle still attached, while another had a door left open, indicating the sudden nature of the incident. A perimeter remained in place for several hours as evidence was collected. Walpole Police Chief Justin Sanctuary stated that the New Hampshire State Police are assisting with the investigation.

The Jiffy Mart was closed for the remainder of the day while authorities continued their work. Additional details, including the identities of those involved and potential charges, were not immediately released as the investigation remained active. Police said further updates would be shared as more information becomes available.
