A house was destroyed by a fire on Stone Hedge Road in Jamaica early Saturday. The Jamaica Fire Department was called to the scene shortly after midnight, prompting a first-alarm response.
Upon arrival, firefighters found the structure fully engulfed in flames. Thankfully, there were no injuries reported; however, the family’s pet dog unfortunately did not survive the incident.
Firefighters expressed their appreciation for the assistance provided by neighboring fire departments from Winhall, South Derry, Windham, and Townshend during the emergency.
In their social media update, the fire department also urged residents to conduct inspections of their heating systems amidst the ongoing cold weather and to ensure that combustible materials are kept away from heat sources.
