A tragic accident occurred on Friday along Interstate 89 in Bolton, resulting in the death of a woman from Massachusetts. The incident took place just before noon, near mile marker 73 on the northbound side of the interstate.

According to local authorities, Janet Montgomery, aged 62, from Somerville, was riding as a passenger in a vehicle that veered into the median to avoid a tractor-trailer merging into their lane. In the course of this maneuver, the vehicle collided with a tree.

Following the crash, both Montgomery and the driver were transported to UVM Medical Center for what were initially believed to be minor injuries. However, it was reported that Montgomery later succumbed to more serious injuries that were not evident at the time of her hospital admission.
