
A tragic fire in Montgomery has resulted in the death of Terje Anderson, well-known for his work as an AIDS activist and as the former chair of the Vermont Democratic Party. Emergency responders were called to the residence on West Hill Road early Sunday morning at approximately 5 a.m., following reports from a nearby resident regarding the blaze.
Upon their arrival, firefighters encountered a house that was entirely engulfed in flames. After the fire was brought under control, the body of Anderson was discovered within the structure. Anderson held significant roles in the community, including serving as the executive director of Vermont Cares, and his leadership extended to the Vermont Democratic Party from 2017 until 2020.
Notification of Anderson’s death has been made to his family.
