A Burlington resident has accepted a plea agreement in a homicide case from 2022 that will result in a 14-year prison sentence. Abdiaziz Abdihkadir, who was 19 at the time of the incident, was charged with the fatal shooting of 21-year-old Hussein Mubarak, which authorities linked to an ongoing personal conflict between the two individuals.
Originally, the case was set for trial next week, but Abdihkadir, now 22, opted to enter a no contest plea to charges of voluntary manslaughter along with two counts of obstruction of justice. Following this plea, he will serve his time in prison.
