On Wednesday afternoon, authorities in Hillsborough responded to a stabbing incident that left two individuals with severe injuries. The event occurred at a residence located on Preston Street, prompting a 911 call at approximately 4:16 p.m. Upon their arrival, law enforcement discovered both victims in the driveway, where they were subsequently transported to Concord Hospital for urgent medical treatment. As of the latest updates, both individuals remain in critical condition after undergoing surgery.

Law enforcement officials identified the suspect as 38-year-old Jeremy Belida from Hillsborough, who allegedly barricaded himself within the home at 81 Preston Street following the attack. In response to the situation, a state police SWAT team was deployed to the scene, leading to the issuance of a shelter-in-place warning for residents in the vicinity.

Around 3 a.m. on Thursday, the SWAT team successfully apprehended Belida, who was also taken to a hospital due to various injuries sustained during the incident. Charges against him include two counts of attempted second-degree murder, two counts of first-degree assault with a deadly weapon, two counts of second-degree assault with a deadly weapon, and two counts of felony obstructing the report of a crime with a deadly weapon. Legal proceedings are anticipated to commence on Thursday.

In light of the incident, Hillsboro-Deering Elementary, Middle, and High schools will not hold classes on Thursday. However, Washington Elementary School will remain operational, and bus services for that school will continue as planned.
