A significant car accident on Route 10 in Keene on Wednesday morning resulted in two individuals being hospitalized and the road being closed for several hours. The incident occurred shortly after 8:40 a.m. when a northbound Ford Focus, driven by 42-year-old Bradley Clough of Keene, crossed into oncoming traffic and collided with a southbound tractor-trailer.
The tractor-trailer, a 2023 Mack vehicle operated by 50-year-old Kyle Ayres from Leicester, Massachusetts, was involved in the crash that necessitated emergency response teams. Authorities reported that neither vehicle had any passengers.
Following the collision, both drivers were transported to Cheshire Medical Center for initial treatment. Clough’s condition required further medical assistance, leading to his airlift to UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester. The specific status of Ayres’s injuries has not been disclosed.
Keene police shut down a stretch of Route 10 from the Route 9 intersection to Sullivan Center Road just after the incident and kept it closed until early afternoon. An ongoing investigation by the department’s Collision Analysis Team is examining the details surrounding the crash. Witnesses have been encouraged to come forward with information.
