A man has been indicted on multiple serious charges following a shooting incident that occurred at the Sky Meadow Country Club in Nashua, New Hampshire, on September 20. Hunter Nadeau, 24, faces an upgraded charge of first-degree murder along with additional charges stemming from the tragic event that left one dead and two others injured.

In the incident, Robert Decesare, aged 59, was killed after being shot multiple times while reportedly attempting to shield his wife and daughter during the assault. Both the restaurant manager, Steve Burtman, and patron Brianna Surette sustained injuries as well. The shooting transpired moments after the gunfire erupted at the country club, where a wedding was being held nearby.

Initially, Nadeau was charged with second-degree murder soon after his arrest, although authorities indicated that additional charges were anticipated as more evidence was gathered. The recent indictment includes charges of first-degree murder, second-degree murder, attempted murder, and assault, reflecting a comprehensive charging strategy by prosecutors, who employed alternate theories for the case.

Legal experts have noted that it is common for prosecutors to file multiple charges to ensure that they have sufficient legal grounds should they need to adjust their case. This tactic allows them to present different aspects of the same incident based on the evidence available.

Witnesses at the scene played a vital role in controlling the situation, as some patrons intervened to help subdue Nadeau during the chaos. The motive behind the shooting remains unclear, although authorities have indicated that the victims were not specifically targeted. Nadeau had previously been employed at the country club as a banquet server. As of the latest updates, Nadeau is set to be arraigned on his charges in the near future.
