Residents of an apartment building on Elliot Street in Brattleboro faced displacement after a fire triggered sprinkler systems throughout the complex on Saturday. The incident led to a second-alarm response from local fire services.

The Brattleboro Fire Department indicated that the American Red Cross and the Brattleboro Housing Authority are assisting those affected by providing temporary accommodations and essential services, although details about the number of individuals displaced and their specific arrangements were not disclosed.

First responders were alerted to the situation at approximately 1:40 p.m., arriving at 107 Elliot Street to find a blaze confined to a single apartment. Although the building’s sprinklers successfully extinguished the flames, the residual water caused extensive damage to 17 additional units.

Two individuals required medical assessment for minor injuries and were transported to Brattleboro Memorial Hospital. As investigations into the fire continue, repair efforts for the impacted apartments are already in progress.
