
A man from Coventry, who was sought by authorities in Florida for allegations related to child sex offenses, was apprehended during a traffic stop in St. Johnsbury on Friday night. Vermont State Police reported that around 11:30 p.m., troopers observed a vehicle committing multiple violations, leading to the traffic stop.
Upon further investigation, it was revealed that the driver, identified as Raymond Lucas, aged 55, had an outstanding extraditable warrant from Florida amounting to $100,000. The charges he faces in Florida include two counts of using a computer for enticing, soliciting, or luring a minor, as well as two counts related to using a communication device to aid in committing a crime.
Details regarding the events in Florida that resulted in these serious charges were not provided by the Vermont State Police. Following his arrest, Lucas was transported to the Northeast Correctional Complex, where he is currently being held on bail set at $100,000. He is scheduled for a court appearance on Monday.
