A fire that escalated to a second alarm on Friday afternoon caused significant damage to a multi-family residence on Back Ashuelot Road, leaving 11 individuals without shelter, as reported by the local fire department.

Emergency responders arrived at 391 Back Ashuelot Road shortly after 1:30 p.m. and discovered smoke emanating from one side of the structure. The fire department indicated that there were no reported injuries, and an investigation pointed to an electrical cause for the blaze. Various agencies, including the Winchester Police Department, Winchester Ambulance, and Eversource, were present at the scene to assist. The situation required the evacuation of the wooden building while the flames quickly spread from the second floor, where the fire reportedly originated near the electrical panels serving the upper floors. The Red Cross was notified to aid the displaced residents.
