
A shooting incident on Saturday evening has led to the arrest of a 20-year-old man, Dakota Ward, who is facing multiple charges including attempted second-degree murder. The incident occurred at around 6:45 PM near 806 Blakely Road when emergency services received reports of a loud noise followed by screams.
The victim, a 25-year-old man from Milton, sustained facial injuries and was transported to the UVM Medical Center for treatment, where he is reported to be in non-life-threatening condition. After the shooting, he entered the Colchester Police Department lobby to report the incident, revealing his injuries to officers.
Authorities quickly gathered information that led them to identify Ward as the suspect. He is currently incarcerated at the Northwest Correctional Facility in St. Albans and is scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday. According to the police, this was a targeted incident, and there is no ongoing threat to the community.
